bushido_man96 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Story: http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=9350&zoneid=13After retiring from fighting as a five-time world kickboxing champion, Long at 45-years-old is set to return to combat sports, entering the MMA fray at Saturday’s Call to Arms Fights “Called Out” event at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.I found this particularly interesting. I can remember watching her movies when I was younger. I wish her the best, and hope that she does well. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
white owl Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 i heard about this and I hope she does well to.
bushido_man96 Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 I hope that I get to see her fight. My parents have Showtime back home, so perhaps I'll be around if she makes into StrikeForce. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
sensei8 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I love watching Kathy fight; tremendous talent/skill. Anyone know what she's going to be paid?BTW, On August 15, 2009 Kathy made her debut in Mixed Martial Arts, defeating Avery Vilche. Here's the story...http://www.calledoutmma.com/2009/08/17/results-from-called-out-mma/ **Proof is on the floor!!!
bushido_man96 Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 Congrats to Kathy! Way to go! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
BDPulver Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 I use to follow her career when she was fighting when I was younger. Saddened when I heard she retired from kickboxing then kinda skeptical on her new move with mma.Glad to hear though on her first bout she won. Hopefully I'll get to see her fight again. She really puts on a great show.
RichardZ Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Honestly, I dont know how she could hold up. She has been through a lot and age is catching up on her.
bushido_man96 Posted November 12, 2009 Author Posted November 12, 2009 Well, she has another fight this month, so we'll see. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
RichardZ Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 There comes a time, female and male sport atheletes alike, where age and long term body abuse catches up.
bushido_man96 Posted November 14, 2009 Author Posted November 14, 2009 True. But Couture is still competing. If Long wants to compete, then she should be all means. I mean she's one a fight already. And the other thing to consider is that just because some doesn't win, doesn't mean that they aren't fit to compete. It isn't as profitable as winning is, but it can still be done. The word has been that she still trains like a monster, and her drive is as high as ever. Might she lose? Sure. Might she win? Sure. When should she quit? When she wants to. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
