quinteros1963
HAs any of you switched schools midstream and if so what is your experience doing so. I am moving out of state and would like to continue in MA, but with all the different styles with in styles I'm concerned that what I've learned may not be recognized due to politics. isshinryu5toforever
Unless you go to a Goju school, what you have learned will be discounted until you prove otherwise. Don't worry about it. Think of each style you choose as a clean slate. You're a white belt all over again. You've got more going for you than the average white belt, but you're still at the beginning. Look at it as a way for you to learn more about yourself, your character, and yourself as a martial artist. Being a white belt again isn't that bad. He who knows others is wise. quinteros1963
I will continue in Goju, however I will have to switch from one association to another. I will be going to a Jundokan affiliated dojo, where kata and requirements are different. In one dojo I know enough to be a higher rank than I am currently, but the katas are slightly different. While in another I would be a rank behind because of different order. I guess I'm concerned about nothing, as a belt is just a belt. I'll just wait and see what happens. bushido_man96
isshinryu5toforever is right on the money. So what if they do things a bit differently? Its an opportunity to learn something new along with what you already know. In the end, its not the rank, but the knowledge that you take with you that will count for more than anything.I went from a 2nd dan in one TKD organization to being a white belt in another; totally different forms, one-steps, and training styles. In the end, I haven't lost anything, but gained a whole bunch. Its all time I would have spent training anyways, so its for the best. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
