Hey,

This is something that I've been wanting to share with you guys for a while. :)

My grandfather held various professions in his life, but one of those was working at a security guard at Bloomingdale's in New York City. I suspect that this sort of work was one of the reasons he took Judo, in which he reached Brown Belt.

He passed away a few years back and one of the things that I received after this was his promotion certificate to 5th Kyu Yellow Belt on June 16, 1960, from The Samurai Judo Club of New York.

I thought that some people here may find this certificate interesting and fun to look at, so that's why I've been planning to post it up, but I just haven't had a chance. Anyway, here it is:

Thanks,

Patrick

That's pretty cool Patrick. Wonder if that clubs still running after 50 years.

Thanks Brenda and Danielle. :) Glad that you liked it.

Yeah, it's funny to think about how long ago it was. Almost 49 years! :)

Searching for the club name on Google brings up only 9 results:

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Samurai+Judo+Club+of+New+York%22&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=yzQ&filter=0

They all relate to a man named Ivan Villegas.
