KickChick Posted July 14, 2002 Posted July 14, 2002 Basic history .... you need to learn before you open up your mouths. If you aren't sure of what you are saying ... please don't look like a fool. I only hope that all of us as martial artists strive for harmony in all things ....
-- Posted July 14, 2002 Posted July 14, 2002 I don't mean to offend anyone, but that's what I see. Almost any American will bristle with hostility if you mention the slightest negative thing about the USA. It's like you can't even talk to them about it without being called a terrorist and such. Europeans tend to be more accepting. I don't have examples to give, nor can I explain it, but I've got a politician for a dad and a poet for a mom, and this is how I feel about it. d-----
SaiFightsMS Posted July 15, 2002 Posted July 15, 2002 I began to be aware of world and national events at a time when American Patriatism was probably at an all time low. I have seen both bras and draft cards burned. There were huge differences in how different age groups viewed the world and out country. Recent events have changed that. I never really got a sense of what patriatism was until the Iran/Iraq war. And after 9/11 that was revived and seems to be so much stronger. People have painted American flags on their houses, and even grow plants in their yards in patriotic patters. Are Americans push - sure some are. Are people of any other nationality pushy - sure they are. Any person from any location will be pushy and maybe even seem arrogant when you come across something they care deeply about.

Taikudo-ka Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 :argue: Some have wondered who profits from war... Well not the government, that's for sure. A good portion of most developed countries "national debt" originates in various war-time activities. So who profits? International banks. International arms companies. Simple. The entire debt backed, bond based "fractional" reserve financial scam that passes for currency nowdays originates directly a certain British king needing to finance a war he couldn't afford, and signing up for a "plan" presented by the Bank of England. Since then, the banking system has made vast amounts and gained enormous power by lending "money" to governments to finance wars. The entire US Federal Reserve system is technically illegal according to the original US Constitution, and basically operates on the loop-hole that it is a "Federal" agency, not the States. Any arms company's profit is directly related to war. Somewhere is a factory making bombs and missiles, and every one ordered by the US Air Force to drop on Afghanistan or anywhere else respresents a profit for this company. Companies like Lockheed rely on commissions from the US Govt to develop fancy new fighters and bombers, and then pay massive $$ for these hi tech toys. IT becomes a Catch 22 - without govt military support, such companies wouldn't exist. However, once the govt starts funding them and buying toys, they have to keep it up so that the companies remain in business. If they stop spending, all these companies wither and disappear, and the US loses its military advantage. Even in a small country like Australia, our ration of military to education spending is obscene. I can only imagine in the US it's worse... KarateForums.com - Sempai
Taikudo-ka Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 - "Why is America always helping other countries when they never help America? " I have one thing to say about this: Protectionist trade tarrifs. From the Australian point of view, Bush's "level playing field" consists of everyone else together on the plain, with the US up on the hill... We dropped ours, and instead of doing likewise Uncle Sam got his up, and proceeded to shaft us. KarateForums.com - Sempai

BlueDragon1981 Posted July 18, 2002 Author Posted July 18, 2002 Australia and Canada usually help America pretty quick. Britian used to but they are getting slower at it. Canada isnt helping much anymore either. Why cant we just all get along...
ckdstudent Posted July 20, 2002 Posted July 20, 2002 Britian used to but they are getting slower at it. Just one, little tiny insignificant question. What the hell are you talking about? Getting slower? I must've been mistaken about the British troops being sent into Afganistan then, along with numerous other occasions. What more help do you bloody want? ---------Pil SungJimmy B
