I'm a Karateka and I wear on occasion...a pull over Gi top, depending on the demo I'm doing. I like the pull over and I wish Karate Gi's were pull overs. Wait...who said pull overs were for Korean practitioners anyway?

I always thought they wore pullover gi's because the lack of grappling in TKD. cause in Hapkido which is also a korean MA I think, I see them wear the more traditional jacket.

In my experiences with Korean styles (Tang Soo Do and my current TKD-based style) I have worn the crossover with ties type of dobolk. I've never worn a pullover type. I don't think Kuk Sul Won generally uses the pullover type either, but when I trained in that style we wore just whatever was comfy.

My Master Instructor tells me that the pull-over dobok is the Kukkiwons invention to make them unique to the TKD world. They are the required uniform there and at all sanctioned tournaments here and abroad.
