Eye of the Tiger Posted July 5, 2002 Posted July 5, 2002 Can someone tell me the difference between these martial arts or are they all the same with people spelling then what ever way they like. THK for your replys
Bon Posted July 5, 2002 Posted July 5, 2002 Afaik (as far as I know), they're just different ways of spelling it, like ki, qi, chi.. It takes sacrifice to be the best. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.
Karateka_latino Posted July 5, 2002 Posted July 5, 2002 Besides the spelling difference, if you watch carefully, you'll notice that the Brazilians like to use "jiu jitsu" and the Traditonal Japanese method is called "ju jutsu".
ZeRo Posted July 5, 2002 Posted July 5, 2002 it doesnt really matter which way you spell it. its just like the different styles.
-- Posted July 5, 2002 Posted July 5, 2002 The proper way would be Jujutsu, but it doesn't really matter. Although I hear 'jitsu' means fruit in Japanese. Japanese guy: I study the Gentle Art! Brazilian guy: Oh yeah? I'm a Gentle Fruit master! Japanese guy: I'll take your word for it... d-----
Eye of the Tiger Posted July 7, 2002 Author Posted July 7, 2002 Thanks, just wanted to clear that up.
Taikudo-ka Posted July 8, 2002 Posted July 8, 2002 Yeah, just a different romanization, like Kung Fu or Gong Fu. In the original language they are identical, but hey, we can't even agree on how to spell plenty of English word, let alone translate totally foreign languages. As far as it meaning "fruit" - maybe... plenty of sounds have multiple meanings - is "ju" soft or number ten. In English, is a "bar" an iron rod, or a place to drink alcohol? Both...
