Rainbow_Warrior
Hi ! Im back. I used to train submission wrestling , now Im starting BJJ . I went to the martial arts store , and asked for a gi . The only gi they had for my size ( I have big shoulders ) at that moment was a BLACK GI . I didnt want to waste time or wait for the supply of white / blue gis , so I DID BUY THE BLACK GI ! I am starting tomorrow !I have readen that Black Gi´s are legal in bjj , but some people say they are cocky for a bjj rook.... I do have xperience in no gi , but It will be my first time with gi.Any advice ? ´´ The evil may win a round , but not the fight ´´
ps1
Don't sweat it. Officially, only a blue or white gi can be worn in competition. However, I have NEVER seen anyone asked not to compete due to gi color. As far as it being for cocky rooks...that only applies if you ARE actually a cocky rook. BJJ is a really laid back environment. Nobody will really care what color gi you wear. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
pittbullJudoka
Don't worry about the gi color and go in with an open mind willing to learn all that you can. I wore a blue judo gi through most of my time as student in my Kempo school. Which work out kind of neat. I was reconized by everyone in the adult class and the kid's parents knew if they saw the blue gi the kids would be ok. I now wear a black iron man and also have a black judo gi. The reason for the color change on my part is that when reaching first dan I earned the right to wear black.
Traymond
The worst thing they will do is make you order one through them...which isn't so bad just tell them you cannot afford it.
