Grego
Hi guys,I just bought a brand new green belt from Kataaro.com (custom martial arts supplies). Anyways, it is a very good belt, but it is very thick. What is the best way to break in a good belt? I know the cheap ones tend to break in pretty quickly, because the material isn't as good. jaddensinn
just wear it when you train and don't worry about it, the belt will be broken in before you know it.
Grego
I meant besides that I've been wearing it for a little bit around the house. Green Belt, Chito-RyuLevel II, US Army Combativeshttps://www.chito-ryukempo.com
joesteph
Try rolling the belt and letting it stay that way overnight, if only to break the stiffness of being so straight when not in use.Give it a try. It can't possibly hurt the belt material. ~ JoeVee Arnis Jitsu/JuJitsu

Sam
also - tumble drying on a mid temp can work pretty well to soften a belt without wearing it down too much
bushido_man96
I just wear mine. But, you could run it through the wash once or twice, as well as drying it.You could also have someone hold one end, and you can start twisting the belt around and around from your end. Then unwind it and do it the other way. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Truestar
Reminds me of my black belt!My instructor has two thicknesses, REALLY thick and what people may consider a more "normal" sized black belt. So far I only know of one person that's kept the thick belt, and he's jacked and still pretty fresh out of the Corps. Breaking in that belt would take a lot of time, so I just went with the thinner one.
BKHowell
Washing and drying it a few times worked for me.
