My sensei doesn't do the traditional chito-ryu lower Kyu kata. Andyes girls do look better at the Bassai Dai Kata. I taught a girl this and I swear she looks better at it than I do... I know for Kajukenpo they make you learn 1-2 new katas from an outside style as an elective for every dan testing. I didn't know that...Well, as far as my experience goes (which it isn't that much) katas shitei are the ones for competition, and there is only a set of katas "allowed" by the WKF to be perfomed in competitions.
