Osu

Espina-san I practice a offshoot of Ashihara from the UK, Although It has moved on since then and doesn't actually have much resemblence to that now.

Ashihara is an excellent style to train in I wish you luck.

I practice here in Costa Rica (Central America, just in case hehehehe).

We are part of AKI (Ashihara Karate International). Our Kaycho is Housain Narker, and his headquarters are in South Africa.

I'm training with Sen Sei Fabian Merino.

OH! Hey! Yeah, I trained in an Ashihara dojo in Maizurushi in Japan's Kyoto Prefecture. I was only there for 2 months, but it was fun while it lasted. It was very different from shotokan (the style I train in typically), but I learned a lot while there.

Oh, and by the way, I also practice Goju Ryu, which is very similar to Shotokan

Hmmm I never seen any resemblance when I practised Goju Ryu and Shotokan at the same time...I thought that Goju Ryu was more similar to Uechi Ryu and Shito Ryu...and also Uechi Ryu's origin is in Pangainoon kung Fu (Half hard half soft), And Goju Ryu is Hard and Soft in a similar terminology...

So I think...(But im not sure)...that Goju Ryu and Uechi Ryu are sister styles.

They are, Traymond. Shotokan and Goju though are different. Add em together though and you get Kyokushin, which eventually leads to Ashihara. But then that's just getting nitpicky on my part.

I agree with you guys, Ashihara and Kyokushin are as sisters as Goju and Uechi.

As you may know, I practice both Ashihara and Goju. Since Kyokushin and Shotokan are probably the most popular karate styles (full contact and traditional) I always compare them, not for any particular reason except that maybe is what most people have heard about.
