undefinedOk im STILL looking at different MA schools, lol. Ok so ive took a muay thai class, its ok but the enviroment just didnt feel right. Then I went to a longfist-kung fu class, it was ok but didnt seem my style. Theres a school in my area that teaches Xing Yi Quan and im wondering if thats a little to hard for me considering I have no prior. kung fu experience. I also know it is an internal art, do you think I should take an external style before an internal? Also whats Xing Yi Quan like? Since its internal is there no powerfull attacks? Isnt it a pressure point system MA? Any very powerfull attacks?

thx for any replys!

I know very little (I've read bits here and there in articles) about Xing Yi (Hsing-i?), but if you want a perhaps somewhat Hollywood-ized version of the art you can rent The One with Jet Li, and you can see the style somewhat portrayed or used by the evil Jet. I'm not exactly positive but I'm kind of sure that every style is exaggerated or glorified for the sake of being photogenic or appealing in movies.  From what I saw, even though it is an internal art, the focus is still efficiency, explosive power, and perhaps operates on a straight-line type ideology? Once again, you are better off looking elsewhere for information besides me, haha.

Almost any art you take will give you reliable self-defense. In the end, it all leads up to the same thing; the only difference is the external appearance and technique.

Just find what is most convinient, where the best instructor is, and what you like.

Personally, I like Xingyi because the power does not diminish with age. It is also good for your health, doing the forms and meditations.
