Traymond
When sparring with younger ranks I like to use chalk as my fist...so that It provides a playful motive. To fear death is to limit life - Xin Sarith Azuma Phan Wuku
FushinRyu
at our school we don't make contact when sparring, we strike in a 1 inch distance between our fist/kick and the person. our shihan is always teaching us that mawai is the success of striking.... well successfully because if you're too close, you have just as much chance to hit the person as they do to you, and if you're far away, well you can't really hit them can you? but we go hard and fast proud brown belt of Fushin Ryu style! Bastich
Last night during our lesson we did some sparring. Our Sensei gave us the option to decide between ourselves as a pair what level of contact we wanted. He also provided head gear and gloves.Everyone chose to go with full contact and to be honest i think i learnt more for doing it. He has know offered to provide mouth gaurds for anyone who wants to continue to take part in the full contact sparring. Mines on order.
