Ladies and Gents, I need to know what you think of dreams.

I had a dream, and I need to know if dreams are whats to happen or something thats never gonna happen...is it something like showing in the future, or is it something that is just a figment of my imagination?...

For me it depends.

Sometimes I'll have dreams during the night that will happen during the day. Or it will be a dream about what happened the during the day prior.

Sometimes I have dreams that are so realistic that I have to double-check myself. In an instant or private message I could tell some pretty hilarious stories about that.

Sometimes I have dreams that are the result of thought processes. Like a few nights ago I had a dream about one of my lady friends who is kind of a flirt but doesn't really like anyone. And in my dream she was flirting with me and I tried to get her to stop by flirting back and then (in the dream) she stopped but got angry at me.

Sometimes I have dreams that are the product of imagination. These are my most frequent dreams. They're often reenactments of scenes from books I'm writing, me flying and/or fighting with video game characters (I'm a dork).

They are basically symbolic reconstructions of what your subconcious is working on while you sleep. That could mean concerns it has, desires, ect. At least that's what my layman's understanding is via the Discovery Channel.

On an interesting note, Grossman talks a bit about the subconcious and what it can tell you about your readiness state while dreaming in one of his talks. His assertion, thru his own research, indicates that there are certain dreams common to fighting types of individuals. MA-ist often have a "the punch dosn't work" dream, people who carry guns will experiance dreams where their firearms are ineffective. He, and more importantly, whatever specialist he took the research from, believe that this is the body's response to performance anxiety is one form or another.

So, if your dreams have you hitting away at someone and it bouncing off, maybe it's your body's way (in this case, the subconcious mind) of telling you that it's not comfortable wiht the preperation you've been doing lately. Maybe it's time to pick up the sparring or sim drills. Whatever might be missing.

As another example (one I've actually had happen now and again) maybe you're pulling the trigger in sd and the rounds won't hit the target, no matter how well you've got your front sight. Look at the last time you were at the range. If it's been awhile, go. On a sheerly anctdotal level, this will usually put that one to rest.

I think that, again, on a non-scientific level, that result usually bears out across all these anxiety issues. Now, depending what level you're operating at, the expectaion of actual conflict, ect. this may or may not be a vivid or comomn experiance.

Anyway, I thought it was an interesting side note.

I don't think that they mean much, in the grand scheme of things.

However, I can relate to tallgeese's battle dreams references. When I dream I am fighting, it seems like my attacks have no strength in them.

Yeuh, but the things that this dream involves or has to do with, I have never even thought of before, but its a good dream in a way, but I never find out the ending, it seems so real, but yet when I wake up I understand its not, and it probably wont happen, but it reoccurs nightly.

I have really strange dreams from time to time. They mostly come from the books I read, or things I've half-heard during the day. A couple times I've dreamed something that actually happened, but not very often. I don't know if the "fighters -dreaming-of-downfall" thing is true, but I used to have dreams where my eyes didn't work properly and I had to shuffle around blindly while the world spun in and out of focus. I suppose that means that my eyes are my weapons.

As for what dreams ARE.... well, I think of them as the relaxing images of our brains. Sometimes there might be a subconscious message involved, but the rest of the time, it's best to kick back and enjoy the pretty pictures. ^_^

My dream never came true yet...so we'll see if it still happens or not in the near future...never will though but oh well.
