Grego Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 He's just kinda introduced it, and hasn't been implemented yet.I'm pretty sure that there stripes. white belts get a black stripe added to the end up the belt with each rank. Brown and green start with three white stripes, and then go down to one.At least I hope he keeps it that way, so I don't have to change the stripes on my green belt. bushido_man96 Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Cool. Thanks. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Grego Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 yeah, since we're a free school, theres no sense in having a bunch of ranks and belts that people need to spend money on.As of right now, we don't even have a building, we've taken to practicing in the local park in street clothes, so we don't even wear our gis very often. But, Sensei is a very talented Martial Artist, and I'd rather train in the park with him than in the best dojo in the world under a less talented artist. bushido_man96 Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 As long as you are enjoying it, and you feel you are benfitting from what you are learning in self-defense as well as other aspects, then that is great. Training outside can be fun at times. My dad tells me about the "old" days when he did TKD, and there were only 5 belt ranks. At times, I don't think I would mind going back to that setup. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Grego Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I completely agree."Old" ways are fun. No pads during sparring, hardcore instructors, standing in zenkutsudachi until your legs shake Green Belt, Chito-RyuLevel II, US Army Combativeshttps://www.chito-ryukempo.com
Traymond Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Yeah, but when you order gi's from Shureido they come in a tint of blue, they stay that way till like 2-5 months. That blue tint is an anti fungal treatment that the material is dipped in to prevent it from getting moldy etc during storage. WNMThats what I heard, I actually wished mine wouldn't turn all white I actually liked that light blue tint, it added some character to my gi unlike all the plain whites, and the blue was actually extremely light it was almost unnoticeable unless you were in close quarters....even the black shureido you can see the blue its beautiful. quinteros1963 Posted May 25, 2009 Author Posted May 25, 2009 I've noticed that even within the same styles, there are many differences in colored belts. What is the color progression in your syle. We go :white gold 1 and 2orange 1 and 2purple 1 and 2green 1,2and 3brown 1,2, and 3blackwhite -no rankgold 1 and 2 - 10 th kyuorange 1 and 2 - 9-8 th kyupurple 1 and 2 - 7th Kyugreen 1,2and 3 6-4th kyubrown 1,2, and 3 3rd - 1st kyu The past is no more; the future is yet to come.
