ICE Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 i like to judge how skillfull my oponent is then take stance if i have time. if the attacker is just an ordinary person or someone that i fell confident i can beat i tak a south port boxing stance exept i have my body more side on and i convert to back stance as i move in. if there more experienced ie a proper streetfighter or martial artis i take a right back stance with my left hand open and forward and my right shut and chambered near my head my fornuckle is about a fists distance away from my eye with my elbow slightly down from the hight of my hand. Pain is just an excuse to stop made by your mind
Kensai Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 I would take Aikido Kamae, Aikido's one and only stance.
ckdstudent Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 Our stance is pretty much the same as the aikido stance, I think. Feet placed about shoulderwidth apart, as though on opposite corners of a square at forty-five degrees angle. Elbows tucked slightly into your side, arms bent to bring your rear arm just up under the chin, front arm up in a relaxed 'v' shape. Its the only actual stance we have, the others are all transitional to help improve your techniques. ---------Pil SungJimmy B
BlueDragon1981 Posted August 8, 2002 Posted August 8, 2002 My stance changes all the time. I dont have one stance. I adjust it to my opponent. Style doesnt matter to me. For the most part I just stand there and wait for an attack to come.
Bratt Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 In class I usually use Zenkutsu Dachi (Front stance) or Neko Ashi Dachi (Cat stance) But as someone has pointed out, I adjust my stance to my oponent, or whatever feels more comfortable. kenpo4life Posted October 15, 2002 Posted October 15, 2002 There should be no rigid stance. you fight from wherever you are at the time. If my survival means your total destruction, then so be it.
Hpkid0ist Posted October 19, 2002 Posted October 19, 2002 Yup, our primary fighting stance is a boxer's stance. It works well and gives nothing away. 2nd Dan Hap Ki Do: What we do in life echos for an eternity!

fungku Posted November 2, 2002 Posted November 2, 2002 Stand naturally, in a comfortable fighting stance, and depending on the situation, and techique you are using, your stance should appropriately match... Don't just STAND in a cross legged stance, 'bow-and-arrow' stance, or 'horse' stance like you might have to in class (to strengthen your legs). Move into these stances with your techniques. I can't explain myself very well. But that's how I see it, and that's how I train. Kyle-san Posted November 2, 2002 Posted November 2, 2002 A variation of a cat stance, only with a bit more weight on my forward leg. Say, 80% back 20% forward.
