Kruczek Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Does anyone know of Shorin-Ryu Bunkai Videos floating around on the net? I am not too concerned with Shorinkan, or Yamashita, or whatever, just as long as it is Shorin-Ryu (nothing personal to you Shotokan guys). Thanks a ton. Okinawan Karate-Do Institutehttp://okiblog.com
Giorgos Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 There is a really interesting site (http://www.karate.org.yu/articles.htm)with many articles, including some small bunkai videos and pictures.
Stlthofnight Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I have only one thing to say: Youtube is your friend! I haven't searched for bunkai intensivly, but I've been able to find at least 1 video for all the shorin ryu (matsubayashi) katas.so good hunting! "Be Water my friend.""The spirit of defeating a man is the same for ten million men." Miyamoto Mushahi
Kruczek Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 I have only one thing to say: Youtube is your friend!I couldn't agree more, the problem is that there is very little Shorin-Ryu Bunkai on youtube, most of it is shotokan and/or shito-ryu. I believe the biggest divider among styles is not their kata as much as their application. Okinawan Karate-Do Institutehttp://okiblog.com
armanox Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Well, perhaps we can add some =) "Karate is NOT about the colour of belt you wear it is about the person you become;...to be a good blackbelt is to be humble and respectful amongst other things." -Dobbersky

Kruczek Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 It is always great to have people of a like style to talk to. I was trying to get an idea of what differences we would have in style if you did in fact upload a video. You are from the Miyahira lineage and I am from the Nakazato lineage, but having Chibana Sensei as a common connection I think our bunkai would be similar. That's all. O and since I am currently in Philidelphia for college there is a slim possibility I could come down for a lesson if I have leave in the future.Again Thank you.
