tsdprime93 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Is there a reliable source that has a video or chart of each individual movement of some Shaolin forms, preferrably weapons, that someone could recommend? NightOwl Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Nope sorry. Shaolin monks =/= shaolin kung fu, although it sounds counter intuitive. It is mostly modern wushu at this point plus the crazy conditioning that they go through. Its really awesome, but not a curriculum that is older than the late 1970's. WudangDragon Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Shaolin Wolf (https://www.shaolinwolf.com) has a step-by-step illustrated walk-through of some Shaolin Quan forms. It also has details of many stances etc.Peace "We follow the World,The World follows Heaven,Heaven follows Tao,Tao follows the way things are."
tsdprime93 Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 Okay thankyou very much...I will try these sites. Going For Gold St. Petersburgh '10"He who hesitates, meditates in a horizontal position"- Ed Parker
Kajukenbopr Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 my teacher doesnt believe in set forms. we have to make them up from the basic postures and movements he teaches...its harder to perform, but it comes more natural, or so he says...i personally like set forms and then performing on my own. <> Be humble, train hard, fight dirty
BlackTiger Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 if your loooking for a video of each movement of a specific Weapon or style ( form) your best bet is to find a credible Sifu and pay to have it made.
RichardZ Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I for one, think Chinese gung Fu form tend to be too flashy and loose much purpose on what a forn=m should do. Instead, they are mostly used for display. I have developed negative thoughts when looking upon anything labeled "Shaolin"
ChoyLayFut Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 What style do you train with Richadz? Not all kung fu forms are flashy and non-functional. Forms for all styles are used to practice the technique to build muscle memory and conditioning. If you look at traditional stylist for kung fu you will see a less flashy and more rooted form.
