white owl Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I am looking in to buying a chest guard and I wondering if any of you guys have one and which one you like. I would like to get one that fits under my gi because I have notice that the ones on the outside you are a walking bullseye.
bushido_man96 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I have not seen chest guards that go on the inside of the uniform. I don't think they would offer quite as much protection.I use one from Choi Brothers, and it is ok, but I don't like them in general. Perhaps some from places like Kwon or Adidas would fit better. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
white owl Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 I really do not like them either but I got an injury that keeps getting re injury and I thought it might be wise to get one. But thanks Bushido_man I look at there sights.
JohnC Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I haven't seen any chest guards that offer any significant protection that would fit comfortably under a karate gi. If you want to pursue, I'd suggest the foam ones would be your best bet, due to the 3/4" -1" padding thickness. Any of the well known brands would probably do. Hope this helps.
DWx Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Do you want something for the whole torso or just the chest? I hate them and have never worn minebut you can get ones that are just the chest and are pretty inconspicuous. "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
white owl Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 I have one just for the chest that is all right. It goes in under my gi. But I was looking for something that will protect my ribs but I do not want to have to wear it on the outside because the guys in my dojo hit pretty hard and I can take it for while. I think if they see it they will want to hit even harder. Especially the one with the bulls eye.
DWx Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Century do a couple that go underneath, don't know how much protection you'd get from it: http://www.centurymartialarts.com/Sparring_Gear/Martial_Armor/Martial_Armor_Vest.aspxMacho also do rib guards that you could probably wear underneath: http://www.macho.com/ProductDetails.aspx?id=10000084&prodid=WWWRGMDXI did find this but I don't who makes it and can't find another site selling them: http://www.playwell.co.uk/moulded-body-armour-p-1830.html "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
white owl Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Thank you DWx, I appreciate it. I like the Century one but it does not look like it covers the rips.
bushido_man96 Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I didn't realize that the Martial Armor was worn underneath. It might be worth looking into. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
DWx Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Yeah I didn't think so either but the one I linked to has actually been sewn onto a shirt. Looks like pretty thin stuff though so you could probably wear it inside. "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
