tallgeese Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 I've taken one written test for an art at bb level. It wasn't a bad idea, essay and all. But I think that most of that informatin is sufficiently convayed verbally during the course of testing.Still, I don't see a problem with doing it. http://alphajiujitsu.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJhRVuwbm__LwXPvFMReMww
KarateEd Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 For BB I had some short answer questions and several essays questions, though they were short essays. I am unsure about writing requirements for dan tests. Hopefully, I'll found out within the next year or so. Ed
Kruczek Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 We have oral tests during promotions over terminology, famous teachers, and "What does....mean to you?"I don't know if a written test should be mandatory, but reading and learning about karate history, philosophy, and such is invaluable to anyone holding dan rank.
