2008 Gets an Extra Second

I remember first finding out about this one New Year's Eve during the 1990s. It's sort of "science trivia" that the extra second is added on every so often, probably not with the same regularity as Leap Year; supposedly, the Earth had less than twenty-four hours in a day over the millions of years, but to be noticed, I think you really do need that atomic clock the article mentioned.

One more second to watch the ball drop at Times Square.
