white owl
Ok this totally blow my mind at a tournament that I attend over the weekend. I was standing around waiting as we always do when we compete an something caught my eye. This person had stapled the hem on there pants I could not believe it, to me bells went off in my head at how dangers that could be like if one of them staples came lose you could get cut or poke in the eye or even get your eye scratched with it and even step on it if it happens to come lose from the pants. Well I alerted someone in charge to it since the person was getting ready to spare and I know I did not want to go against those staples so the person was made to remove them. So this brings me to a point what is the strangest thing you have seen at a tournament it could be what people have done to their uniform to their gear or etc. Duck tape on gear does not count I actually had to use it on my gear, my gear does not seem to last. I can understand if something happened at the last minute & your hem fell down right there.....however, it really irks me when I see someone arrive for class or a tournament in a uniform that looks like it was slept in. I know it's not a fashion show, but to wash and iron your uniform and basically keep it clean shows a sign of respect and care, not only for yourself & your appearance but for the school you are representing. So, staples on a hem is tacky, and yes, as you said can scratch someone in a match. It also just looks plain bad. I have seen people with really messy uniforms and it makes me wonder about them. I take my uniform home every week to wash and iron. I will not wear a wrinkled uniform. I know it gets dirty and sweaty so at the end of each week, it comes home with me to get cleaned. If my patches or anything starts to come off, I fix that myself. If it stinks after one or two days it comes home earlier than planned and I keep a spare at home I can use until the other one is clean. It's just common sense and basic hygiene to me, that's all. bushido_man96
The strangest "wardrobe malfunction" that I have ever seen at a tourney was a guy who wear his athletic supporter and cup on the OUTSIDE of his pants, as opposed to the inside. It just looked wrong. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

The bad thing was that the guy was from our school..... https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Tiger1962
I can't imagine sparring someone dressed that way. Maybe he figured he'd have better padding protection on his body if he wore it on the outside of his uniform instead of underneath? bushido_man96
No, it had more to do with not wanting to put it on after doing forms, or having to race off to the restroom when they called his group to compete. A convenience thing for him, I guess. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
