Sin Style Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 what does everyone think about the use of wire work in films with jet li, crouching tiger hidden dragon etc over the top, makes it look cool, or anything else ?
ckdstudent Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 When it's done well (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Romeo Must Die, The Matrix or A Man Called Hero) then its great. When its done badly I just don't want to see it. (Iron Monkey pushed the boundary). ---------Pil SungJimmy B
Jack Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 It's okay, but I think it is overused. I definitely dislike the flying. Using proper martial arts skills with a little help from computers looks good, but when it is overdone I don't enjoy it so much. JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
karatekid1975 Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 I agree, Jack. Some of it is ok, to give the movie a little "spice". But it is overused, and the flying is too unrealistic. I'd rather see a movie that has a good fight scene without wires or flying. Crouching tiger was a good movie, except for the flying. The part where the two women were fighting in the dojo was great. Not much fancy stuff, but good. Laurie F
Sin Style Posted June 27, 2002 Author Posted June 27, 2002 i also dont like to much wire work, i thought crouching tiger hidden dragon was a great film but way to over the top, like them really old japanese films, where if you knew martial arts you could fly.
