Ozpunker Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I have a grading on Saturday.. I'm more anxious than nervous about my actual grading. I'm more worried about the 3rd dan and two 1st dan gradings I'm helping out with.
FushinRyu Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 at my first grading i messed up a couple times, like during an stepping and punching test, i turned the wrong way, during a kata i did the wrong move, and during blocking i did a wrong block.... but it was cool.... proud brown belt of Fushin Ryu style!
Grego Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 The first time I tested, I wasn't even told that I was testing. My sensei called for all of the white belts to line up. We went through Ju Ni Waza, and he asked me some questions. At the end of the class, he put stripes on our belts. After that, I wasn't nervous to test, since I'd already done it. sensei8 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 My first test! How nervious was I? Man, I've got to think wwwwwwwaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back...I was 7 years old. I was scared out of my pants, literally, I wet myself! There I am, standing in a puddle of my own urine/shaking. My Dai-Soke allowed me to go home and I retested the next day after my mom washed my Gi. I was so embarrassed but my Dai-Soke was so understanding and so compassionate. None of the other kids made fun of me when it happened and when I came back. Possibly my Dai-Soke had alot to do with that. **Proof is on the floor!!!
bushido_man96 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 That's rough, Bob. But, seeing that you overcame that, I can imagine that any testing afterwards wasn't nearly as much pressure. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
masters baby RR Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 i graded last saturday...wasn't nervous, more like frustrated. The first quarter was like endurance...barely made it through but I passed (though when i heard that we had an hour of running again i had a panic attack) ^_^"' he who does not fear his own sword is not worthy to hold it - HisagiI spit on perfection - Mayuri
bushido_man96 Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 Man, I'd panic, too. I'm not built to run like that. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Rateh Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I don't remember if I was nervous for my first testings. I know I've been nervous for my latest testings (one come 9am this morning).I'm generally nervous the night before the test, and then the testing morning up until I start, once I've started my nervous generally calm down. For some reason I'm not nervous about the testing this morning....even though I am still reviewing material because my brain keeps freezing. (all of the sudden I'll be doing a form and freeze wondering if there is a punch or something that I just missed) Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start. - Nido Qubein
bushido_man96 Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 I still got a bit nervous with my Aikido testing coming up. I didn't feel anything up until the day of testing, but as the hours wound down, I started to get a bit nervous. I'd imagine that I always will, too. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
white owl Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 My first belt test I was so nervous I thought I was going to be sick (I think did get sick) and still now I get so nervous the night before and the day of. I actually have nightmares about it. I forget my kata, I forget my gi or my pants fall down stuff crazy like that. For my black belt test I have to take a written exam and I have never done well with written exams even when I was in high school. I blank out for them, as soon as I turn in the test I'll remember things, usually. It's crazy I know.
