I think that'd be a bit odd...

A black arm-band is the symbol of mourning, and a death in the family. Why would you want one permanently marked on your skin?

Good God, what a horrid idea! What would you be trying to say (when naked, presumably) by having this done??! "I'm so tough" or "I'm in mourning" or "I permanently scar my own skin to try to look tough"?? Or other?

Ignorance is not what makes a martial artist.

Neither is being rude. In fact, as opposed to yall two, I view my belt is a symbol of honor and gentleness (NOT AS A SYMBOL OF TOUGHNESS).

Thanks for the inquiry anyway. I can overlook rudeness and I will also respect it seeing that it is a symbol of YOUR RANK AND BELT

Hey dude. I actually like the idea. Apparently its very special to you, so why not get a tattoo of it? Tattoos are for yourself. Who cares what they "represent" to other people. What matters is that you know and you appreciate it. I love tattoos, piercings, etc. so you have my support! It shows your dedication by going through the pain for the permenant marking of your belt. You could get your style's name put on the belt, or above it in its language's characters to make it look less like the "black band of mourning" *sigh* but I think it would look cool on its own. Again, other people's opinions dont matter. I dont have a black belt tattoo or anything, but I'd say go for it. Have you ever gotten a tattoo before? If not, I'd recommend going to a lot of tattoo websites and looking at all of the FAQ's. Just so ya know.... only the outline of the tattoo is done with one needle. Its usually filled in with 3,6, or 9. I'd pick 9 cuz it sounds like it would hurt more (Yes, I said MORE). Im not sure though.

i have a tribal symbol going down my forearm. the tattoist (spelling ?) said only the outline hurt. although i thought he was lying it did turn out to be true, colouring it in was quick easy and didn't hurt at all.

if you do get one make sure you eat something like a mars bar to get sugers and adrenalin running thought your body better, has some of my mates have had tattoo's at lets say 4 pm with only eating breakfast and have all pasted out

Although I have nothin' against you getting a tattoo, I just think that if you're gonna get a black belt tattooed on, you should be at the skill level of a black belt. Some people, especially senseis or sifus, might find it offensive, if you're not actually at that skill level. But if you want it, no one's stopping you (except your mom, maybe).
