Throwdown0850 Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 No, but I'd work on it under increasing "live" conditions, even on the first day. I usually try to immediatley incorporate some sort of negitive as well, that afore mentioned hook, say. To start the trainees thinking about the potental consequences of real fights. There is alot of good training ground that can be covered between no realism and full on assults. It's kind of off topic, but too often I see practitioners not make any progess to the latter after learning the former.agreed, nothing is better than the real thing. You must become more than just a man in the mind of your opponent. -Henri Ducard
joesteph Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Take a look at this video I just stumbled upon.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLUn49eYZH4&feature=related. . . the young women . . .The one move that the young woman performed that I wondered about was defense against the rear choke. I redid it with a dan member, even leaning my weight into it, and he felt that it was feasible if done immediately, before the attacker could lock his arm by using his hand. Only then did he think she had the opportunity to pull the arm and slip her head out going under his arm and to the side.I thought I'd seen something similar to it and, sure enough, it's a scene in Red Belt. The woman who's unsure about taking a martial art is revealed to be a rape victim. The instructor recreated the attack by being behind her and, instead of a applying a choke, he had a knife in the hand of the arm wrapped around her throat. The knife was at the side of her neck, not in front of it. In the movie, she pulls hard on that arm, using her weight for more force, then slips herself out, under his arm as in the video BB of C linked to. She then continues with a martial art move he directs her to do, but the similarity is not the knife, but that the hand was not aiding the arm in locking it around her neck. ~ JoeVee Arnis Jitsu/JuJitsu
fujau Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 EIt is basic Kyusho Jitsu, and look how effective it is even for a small female with little or no training. Imagine what this stuff is like in the more advanced stages (devastating). Yet people discount it and say it is too hard to do, that’s a good escape for lack of knowledge IMO. If you have doubts it is real, Master Corn has a Kyusho seminar in Indiana, Dec 13th & 14th if anyone is interested, I can get you the info for it.Hi shawn Even though i am a great believer on points but also there are some people that it will not work, I think it is about 10% where many people just dont feel the pain. What I have found out larger woman with natural body fat are very yin and yielding and some men as well. Although the twisting of fingers in a torque position or a arm bar in a classical chinna way will be nasty, a sudden realization of, if that striking on certain points doesn't work you must adapt to something else but again, it is just extra players to the game. And yet i have seen people say it doesn't work then find themselves on the floor in the recovery position LOLI think the key is if you bring more players to the game you stand a better chance of winning.
