Shotokan Student
We use the 6oz pro force student uniforms and there seems to be not enough size options. I'm 5/6 and 125lbs but the sizes areSize 1 = 5/2 125lbs orSize 2 = 5/6 150lbsI hate how I look in my gui as it is always bunching and I am constantly constantly constantly (said that enough times) fixing and pulling it down. I'm also a girl so I dont know if these are made for woman bodies. Anyway, does anyone know if these are tailorable and where one might go for such a thing? Thanks for any help! tallgeese
It's my understanding that just about everything can be taylored. It will be easier probibly if you have a nicer, heavy gi. And just about any shop that does this sort of service could help you out.Now a second question could be - will it be worth it? Just about everyone I know who spends alot of time training in a gi spends just about as much time pulling it back into place. This will probibly happen even if it fits you better. Also, gi's have a way of getting pretty nasty after a while and often getting torn up one way or another. It might not be worth the price. Now, if you have one you use specifically for teaching in or doing formal things in, then I could see it really being worth it. http://alphajiujitsu.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJhRVuwbm__LwXPvFMReMww
bushido_man96
I always have to buy large, and then hem up. Works well for me. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Shotokan Student
Thanks for writing back. My sensei told me today there is womens style karati gi's so I'm going to look thru his catalog and try that out. Also today I tried tying the belt tight in my mid section and pulling a bit more out the top to make it a controlled bunching which really helped. I agree that tailoring may be too expensive and not worth it since my uniform is already wearing after only three months. I'm not a teacher, not even close. Just going for my purple belt on saturday. Thanks again!
Tiger1962
Let us know how the womens karate gi works out for you if you do decide to get it. I had to tailor mine on the sleeves because they were unusually too long. Shotokan Student
Hey Tiger, I'll let you know. I'm asking for the womans Gi for christmas so it'll be a while. My sensei says the womens versions are cut differently with smaller shoulders and a smaller waist. Can't wait to look like a rockin' karate chick. Today we broke boards for the first time so I feel pretty awesome

white owl
If cost is a concern I think the womans gi's are relatively expensive they are sold separatly and I think you will still have the same problem. But I could be wrong. I know when my first sensei ordered my gi he ordered my gi way to big so it was constantly up around my neck. so I ordered another one and it is not quite as bad but when you are constantly being pulled and tugged on it is hard to tell. Mokuso
Tokyodo International has the option to order a fully tailored and personalised karate gi. These gi cost a little more than your regular premium quality gi, but it will fit like a second skin. An option, maybe?
