uchytil Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Anyone know/have anything to say about the American Karate System? Started by a guy named Lieb in Michigan. Had a German following that broke off. Here's why: I was a Goju student while overseas. Where I live there is little, ie. TKD, one Shotokan, and the AKS classes. Did I mention I LOVED Goju! I visited the Shotokan and was excited until I saw moms/dads sitting along the gym wall watching their kids train (adult class), no bags, few mats, and someone kind of bashed TKD and, to a small extent, Goju. I was a little disheartened. I plan to check out the AKS class next week at a local Community College - just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this style? By the way, I'm in the Muskegon, MI area and if you know of something else around here...
Root Down Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I don't know anything specifically about the AKS, but I do know the American Karate Association (AKA) was created by Ernest Leib 8th dan. I'm thinking the AKS is his home school, maybe a different guy completely.http://www.akakarate.com/
