joesteph Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Who is Jet Li?If you click on this Wikipedia link, Saxon:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_Liyou'll become more familiar with him in films and the martial arts._____ _____ ~ JoeVee Arnis Jitsu/JuJitsu
SaxonPig Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Ahhh... He had great success winning numerous competitions doing the SAME FORM EACH TIME and then became an actor.Although I'm sure he looks great in his movie fight scenes he apparently never actually competed in kumite, only forms, doing the same form every time.I'm sure he's very athletic but I can't quite pronounce him to be a great martial artist based on his very limited endeavors (doing one kata really, really well isn't enough to be a great martial artist).JMHO
bushido_man96 Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I don't think that a kata is the limit of one's Martial ability. There are some stylists who don't do kata at all, and they are still great Martial Artists.Li has many great physical skills that would lend him to be a great Martial Artists, as I have mentioned previously. Perhaps he never has done kumite. I imagine he must have trained in some type of sparring at some point in his career. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Athena Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I'm not sure... but i know he is good. special features "the one"anyways..what to do with his abilities..Practice, practice, practice XDUse them to learn gymnastics easier and faster..and..see if I can't spar with Jackie chan >.> Strike first. 'Til then i will not fight you. Everytime someone calls JKD a style, Bruce turns over. Why do I love Bruce Lee? Not because he was an awesome martial artist- but because his train of thought overlapped with mine even before I knew about him. Thank you karate forums, for introducing me to Bruce Lee
joesteph Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I know he's involved in humanitarian work since the tsunami nearly took his life and the daughter who was with him. He's forty-five now. I wonder, if I had his skills at his age, a good age, if I wouldn't develop a school of my own martial arts? I understand his outstanding Wushu background, but I wonder if his abilities, at least if I had them, wouldn't be the best topsoil for a new crop? ~ JoeVee Arnis Jitsu/JuJitsu
