LeaF Posted August 20, 2002 Posted August 20, 2002 we do blindfolded kata and ocassionally a type of sparing... One dude stands in the middle of a circle and everyone else stands around him... The other people are given numbers and when the instructor puts his fingers up showing a certain number that person attacks and the dude in the centre mys listen for him (and feel floor vibrations if their good) to block the strike and counter... Bratt Posted August 23, 2002 Posted August 23, 2002 We've sparred blindfolded, which was very hard for someone who has no clue how to use all other senses lol "Freedom discovers man the moment he loses concern over what impression he is making or about to make" -Bruce Leehttp://www.myvidtodvd.com/mysmilies/otn/other/leseratte.gifhttp://216.40.249.192/mysmilies/contrib/xerx/smileystooges.gif

KickChick Posted November 1, 2002 Posted November 1, 2002 I personally have only tried doing blindfolded "breaks" ... never sparring or kata/forms. I would imagine escapes from grabs, sticking hands type drills, and ground fighting drills would work well with blindfold training..... (however in our TKD school we don't do these). I would think that it would develop your confidence level more .... if you can defend yourself blindfolded, then you should feel even more confidence in your technique when not blindfolded.
OxygenAsh Posted November 1, 2002 Posted November 1, 2002 My sifu fights blindfolded. Wing Chun style. The blade is only silent until it cuts through your flesh.
SaiFightsMS Posted November 1, 2002 Posted November 1, 2002 I find working kata blindfolded helps improve balance.
ramymensa Posted November 30, 2002 Posted November 30, 2002 Did some katas while "blind". It was great. I feel very comfortable when all I see is black ... It was interesting. And we did some exercises. And they thought I cheated. Well I didn't. I just felt the other person, almost smelled her, heard her breath ... Without the possibility of seeing I tried to complement my perception with the other senses. It really worked World Shotokan Karate
