van_damme Posted June 22, 2002 Posted June 22, 2002 This has been the best lesson ever since ive started to kung. This is my story. Well we done the usual stuff and towards the end are sensei told us to all sit on the side,he cleared everything up so there was a big space. He then chose 2 black belts to fight!IT WAS GREAT!!..it was like watching a jackie chan movie live right in your face, they done some great moves and i was well impressed. Are sensei told them to do a specific style of fighting. Southern Arms:This is crane and basic blocks and hits,he also allowed them to use monkey. Northern Arms:This is long powerl punches, like mike tyson, but more skilled. Northern kicks. This is KICKS!!!...just kicks, high low,any kicks you want,if u wanna fly and do a kick,u could. So anyway, after the fight he then chose other ppl in the class to fight, this is then i realised that i was going to fight!!.Well my sensei called me up to fight a master of kicks,he is chinese and he is the master of WU SHU!!,and i was just a lil minor..hahaha So are sensei told us just to fight. So we just did anything, and first i got the upper hand, then he did, then it was evan and den my sensei stopped it.So then he told me to use southern arms..i dont really like this but i had to use it anyway...and he told the chinese dude to use northern kicks..and i just knew i was going to get beat up..so there he was doing all these flying kicks and i could not do much,i just had to block, when his guard was down i gave him a slap and that embarresed him..hehehe..then are sensei stopped the fight agen.So the final battle..i had to use NORTHERN ARMS....and he had to use southern arms.So there i was..doing al these crazy spinning punches and BOOM..i hit him right in the chest and the other students and seniors started to clap..hehe..and i impressed my sensei..after the lil battle everyone clapped and we shook hands and i think he respected me and i sure as hell respected him. It was good fun and i enjoyed it alot,i can wait to fight in real tournaments. When you put water into a cup,it becomes the cup. When you put water in a T-Pot,it becomes the T-Pot..be water my friend!!
-- Posted June 22, 2002 Posted June 22, 2002 Sounds like you've got one of the rougher, more traditional classes. But I'm confused...was this black belt or black sash? Anyway, tournaments usually restrict a lot of stuff, make you wear gloves and pads, etc., so the best sparring you'll get is in your kwoon. You're lucky to have a class like that. Keep up the good work. d-----
van_damme Posted June 22, 2002 Author Posted June 22, 2002 thx man...and they are black belts! When you put water into a cup,it becomes the cup. When you put water in a T-Pot,it becomes the T-Pot..be water my friend!!
-- Posted June 22, 2002 Posted June 22, 2002 Oh, so you take an eclactic art. Traditional Kung Fu doesn't have belts, but Wushu does. Is that what the class is, Wushu? Btw, don't forget that 'Kung Fu' is Chinese for 'hard work'. Keep it up, and one day you'll be one of those black belts that the new guys will be amazed by. d-----
van_damme Posted June 23, 2002 Author Posted June 23, 2002 hehehe We do do wu shu but they are black belts in kung fu..its not like a karate black belt..but just like the best grading thingy... When you put water into a cup,it becomes the cup. When you put water in a T-Pot,it becomes the T-Pot..be water my friend!!
