bushido_man96 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I wonder why there aren't any Wrestling clubs around. I would love to see a Wrestling club in my area. Does anyone know of any area that has Wrestling clubs, put on by a rec organization or anything like that? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
tallgeese Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 There are a few around here. Mainly as off season outlets for practice. Then again, wrestling is very popular in my area. http://alphajiujitsu.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJhRVuwbm__LwXPvFMReMww
tenshinka Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Oddly enough, you're right! I dont know that I have seen a wrestling club...ever. We have boxing and MMA alot though lol I know that most Community Colleges, do have wrestling programs, but I am pretty sure its just for students at the school.
ps1 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 A friend of mine in Pennsylvania is on one. He's 28yrs old. Now, it's a big wrestling state also. That probably makes a difference. But it's just like a bowling league. They have little meets and everything. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."

After all, we have a lot of kids that grow up around here that start out in Kid's Wrestling, and then Wrestle all the way up through high school, and some into JuCo or College. We have a D-II school with a pretty decent Wrestling program. So I don't know why nobody gives one a try around here? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
tallgeese Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 You could add that project to your plate as well .Hook up with some wrestlers and get them interested in continueing to train. Learn some stuff from them in the process, get a big enough club going and the sky is the limit. http://alphajiujitsu.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJhRVuwbm__LwXPvFMReMww

If I could find enough people that would be into it, and someone who would be more willing to run the show, then getting it going would be a good idea. I may have to see what I can find out. Maybe the rec center here would be interested in it. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
tallgeese Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Good place to start.I'd also check with some local Y's to see if anything is kind of going on, maybe the junior colleges and high school coaches in the area too. They'd probilby be able to sterr you in the right direction.Good Luck. http://alphajiujitsu.com/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJhRVuwbm__LwXPvFMReMww
bushido_man96 Posted August 25, 2008 Author Posted August 25, 2008 Thanks, tallgeese. No YMCA's here, so that part is done. Checking with some coaches would be a good place to start. Down the street from me is the former college Wrestling coach. He just took a different job in the athletic department at the college, so maybe he could help some, too. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
NightOwl Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I know of some great ones in Washington and seattle- gotta love Team Quest although they use submission rules Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
