humble monk Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Since back in the day when I would mail order shuriken with my allowance, I've wondered if there was a company that produced authentic MA weapons. Especially Chinese. I am curious what would actually pass as acceptable in a dojo in Japan.I think a nunchaku wiyh a silkscreened ninja on them could get me into trouble.
tenshinka Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Shureido is Hand-Crafted and Made In Okinawa Classical Kobudo Weaponry, and Dogi.http://www.shureidousa.com/For Chinese weapons, I know that Wing Lam Enterprises has connections for some good stuff, and even some antique weapons. Now, Japanese swords are ANOTHER story...There are many capable craftsmen here in the states, and abroad...Although I have heard many good things about Bugei Trading Company.
humble monk Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 Thanks! My credit cards are about to hate you, though!
tenshinka Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 LOL I hear ya...when it comes to this stuff, I hate that I HAVE a credit card lolAlso, I was going to mention in my last post, Wing Lam Enterprises is https://www.wle.comIn addition there is https://www.weaponsconnection.com (Pretty Good Stuff, Except For The Ryukyu Gusan or JO).I would recommend ALL of the Shureido stuff...I have a pair of Nunchaku from Shureido that are 20+ years old, and still work GREAT.
humble monk Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 I don't even know what some of this stuff is, but I want it!Regret posting this already, I'm about to go broke. And the neighbors already had raised eyebrows when I was doing simple staff forms in the backyard. This will confirm that I'm crazy to them. But thanks!
NY_Karatedork Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Humble that is ok because my neighbors think i'm crazy or possessed by demons. I have been using a walking stick as a bo staff and my neighbor thinks well....i'm a loon. I have ninja monkies in my brain and they are using it as a trampaline.
