G95champ Posted June 19, 2002 Posted June 19, 2002 Shotokan can be great for self-defense but it does not deal alot with joint locks and that type of stuff. Its more a strike defense not a counter lock. _________________ (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory." Karateka Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 Both are good in their own little ways. The point is to take what you think works for you, and try to work on what isn't at the moment. "Never hit a man while he's down; kick him, its easier"Sensei Ron Bagley (My Sensei)
