changing kata?

it was shidoshi, and the founder of the style, who decided that all the kata must be changed. i know that the kata i was originally taught (and learned) was correct because i bought his tapes (although they were created in the late 90's).

It's not the new teaching are bad but as far as keeping the art as it was then you need to go with the way they set up.

In all honestly most the masters that we look up to changed the kata from something else. There is nothing that made them the say all and be all. Except they took the time to write it down and the system grew around what they taught.

I agree with the post above there is nothing wrong with changing the form just make sure you tell those you are teaching what your doing and why.

However, If it were me I would stay with the way my style and association taught it.
