NightOwl Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Ah yes, as the wonderful smells of BBQs, Lawns, and extra sweaty gym mats hit the air, what are you trying to get done as a goal (martially) before the long, cold, fall (autumn for our UK friends) gets underway? Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
DWx Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Lose weight! I seriously need to drop down if I want to compete properly this year. Also want to master Juche so that I can hopefully grade to III dan at the end of the year. "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
bushido_man96 Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I don't have anything hard and fast laid out, really. I want to spend more time on my Combat Hapkido, so that I can work towards my 1st degree there. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
NightOwl Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 For me it is getting to 4th kyu before I have to head back to the United States.I'm sure there is Judo back home too but school will prevent me from training for awhile. Rateh Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 My goal...well its an october goal. I want to be ready to be presented as a canidate for black belt testing for the next october. This means I need to learn 12 more forms, two or three more weapons, 36 basics combinations (full of new stuff), 24 sparring combinations (again full of new techniques/footwork), and bunches of self defense. Then I can be presented and start the year long preperation classes. (I want to get 2nd Kup pass off by august) Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start. - Nido Qubein
ShoriKid Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Keep working on my conditioning. Sharpen my sparring and grappling. Basically, keep bringing myself back up to a respectable level since I've have time to train now since a job change last spring. Kisshu fushin, Oni te hotoke kokoro. TraditionalDan Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I will be doing the same, trying to strengthen and sharpen my karate further. The one problem the summer brings is the impossible hotness of my conservatory! (Which is where I train alone twice a week).I have started to train in the back garden in the evening now, on some unlevel concrete slabs. But I stand on some level slabbed steps to drill basics. NewEnglands_KyoSa Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Well i've already lost around 37 pounds so i'd like to keep that off but gain more muscle because i lost a great amount due to my ankle surgery. which brings up another goal, i want to recover within the next month and start training again. i have many forms i need to relearn in my kempo system, and many combinations, so i'd like to get those all down so i can be eligible to test. as far as tang soo do goes im hitting it hard in november because that marks one year until i test again, and i really want to make this test great, like truly and literally amazing, so i've got some training to do!
