Al the flip did was achieve the mount without catching a nasty up kick or having to approach from side control after tossing the legs to the side. It was a display of athletism, one which most people would argue couldn't be done in a fight. Think of it as a link to toss out to folks who like to say that MMA only uses what works and none of that fancy stuff. There is some fancy stuff, and it works! :D
