I met a guy at my gym who is a Wing Chun practitioner and I'm thinking about starting. The classes are at the Davenport Y. Any one here wouldn't have anymore info would they? He says he is several generations removed from Sifu Yip Man. What do you think about this? Thanks.

Knuth,

Find out what forms (patterns/katas) he does, or who his instructor was. This could give us a bit of a clue to what style of Wing Chun he does.

Yeah, you should defintely see who his instructor was, if his instructor was like Willain Cheung or anythony arnett or something you know he's probably good. if you don't like that place check out this website: http://www.wingchun.org there are a list of schools for all the different states.

hope this helps.

It is only with the heart that one can see clearly, for the most essential things are invisible to the eye.
