tdk539
sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. in my dojo the higher ranking children (under 16) are allowed to attend the adult class. while I have no objections to this, there is this one kid I'm often paired up with for sparring, self defense, etc. the problem is, he acts like he's 5 which causes problems, he flinches and starts wimpering even before any excersises begin, and goofs off during sparring. my kyoshi, sensei and rest of the senior belts know he does this, but I'm still paired with him--we're about the same height. any advice? bushido_man96
Ask to be partnered with a more mature person.I agree. It is your training, and you don't want to be short-changed. There are enough people to spread this around, I think. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

KarateEd
I think most of us have been paired up with someone like that before. It gets old quick. Too bad you keep ending up with the same person as your training partner. As others have said, I would mention it to your instructor. You might say that you need some variety in training partners in order to better develop your skills.Ed Ed

Or does he just like to teach adults? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Tiger1962
Good question. I've seen this happen before too & often wondered. What about if the head instructor allows children in the adult class because there are not enough adult students to have a class of their own? How do you deal with that? Probably a similar situation to original question because let's say the circumstances don't always allow you to switch partners.... Probably a similar situation to original question because let's say the circumstances don't always allow you to switch partners....In the summer time, we typically have to combine our classes. It really isn't that much of a problem for us. We are pretty good about rotating partners, though. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
