NewEnglands_KyoSa
So most schools do them at one point or another, but what do you include in your demonstrations. Ours usually consist of breaking, fighting, skits, forms in shapes and different directions...etc. So what are yours all about? "Smile. cross
The school i used to attend did a few demonstrations now and then. We never added anything new that we wouldnt do in a normal class. Because if you are trying to attract students, show them what they can expect, not what fancy tricks you know. So we just took a normal class an compressed it into about a 10-15 min demo. KarateEd
My current school used to do demonstrations but it was years ago, before I even joined. At my first school I remember doing one demonstration, though the details are a little vague (it was about 20 years ago). I do remember breaking boards. Aside from that I think it was similar to what cross mentioned, a compressed version of a normal training session. Ed Ed

We do some abbreviated basics, then some forms, some one-steps, maybe a bit of free sparring, and then the high ranks will do some board breaks. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
DWx
The last demo we did was probably our most successful. Everyone lined up, had warmup ran by one of the students. Then a range of coloured belt forms done by kids in formation. Then Juche by a blackbelt. Did step and free sparring. Throughout the demo the little kids explained the tenets to the crowd. Also included special technique stuff and breaking. "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
yingampyang
Well i try an emphsis on situations, but we sometimes do a few katas and the top stundents will do a kata's they have modifed. Its a more relaxed environment. I think that there is no 1 style , and that to truly become a great martial artist and person you must take information from where ever you can. IcemanSK
We do a lot of the same things we do in class (forms, basics, one-steps) & a lot of breaking. My GM is very fond of power breaks (concrete) so most of the schools add those as well. Being a good fighter is One thing. Being a good person is Everything.
