Well I broke the cap block I mention in an earlier post. I'm not happy with the fact I had to use an axe kick.

why did you HAVE to do it, was it a testing requirement? if so, that sucks, im sorry man.

No test. Some of the guys including myself are doing a demo for the local Cub Scouts next week and what better to do that some some oh ah moves like breaking. But I had a phone conversation with my Sensei last night and he had tried to break one of the six he bought yesterday and said he could break it with a reverse punch or hammer fist. So last night I stopped by the dojo and tried and tried 2 reverse punches and a hammer strike and fail. So I stopped today during a private class just to let him know that it wasn't just him that couldn't break them last night.

He informed that he had tried an axe kick earlier today and only managed to bruise his heel. So I decided to give the axe kick a try and to my amazement it broke. The 2 private students enjoyed it.

I wish I could have down it with a reverse punch. That is my actual goal. My next break attempt gearing up to the demo will be six spaced board then depending on how that goes I'll do six unspaced being held by a fellow member of the dojo.

My grammar was horrible so I fixed it.

By the way this afternoon I attempted another cap block with a reverse punch and got a clean break and I'm pleased that I met this goal.

I used to love breaking. I'm on a temporary hiatus from MA. But I have done lots of breaks. My favs ....

(1) the ridgehand. Only because I hardly ever see females do them while breaking. I almost always do them in tournies, and complete the break (with one or two boards).

Another is a (2) standing front leg hook kick (standing still, bring my leg up slow, bring my heal three inches from the board and break it from there). I saw my old instructor do the same thing with a punch (it totally seemed like slow motion! It was the coolest thing). I have done it with one and two boards (I did the two board thing for a test and blew them away ... Yay!).

(3) I love the speed punch. I got my old dojang memebrs to start doing them. You basically hold the board yourself, drop it, and punch it (and, hopefully, break it).

There's others, but I just got off work and my brain is mush. I'll post more later.
