cross
Interesting article. Im not really decided one way or the other on the whole ki thing. On the breathing thing: I have found that breathing out with any sort of force through the nose sends slime flying everywhere However, i generally breath sharply out through my mouth with each technique i perform. ps1
Two things:1. He didn't really answer the question well. All he said was, it helps you Ki flow. He didn't say why or how.2. I was always taught, "in through the nose and out through the mouth." Being a scientific mind, however, I'm a little biased toward actual scientific fact. I know there are energies in the universe. But to compare gravitational pull to nuclear energy (which holds our atoms together) is like comparing a kitten to a lion. My point is, they may come from the same source, but they are not the same thing. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius." Stlthofnight
Why through the nose? the last time I checked, air expelled through the nose and the mouth are the same, except it has an oder from the mouth from time to time...And I find that I have greater controll over my breath with my mouth than my nose.I do agree however that breathing exercises should be a regular regimen for all martial artists. Greater lung capacity equals more energy which equals greater speed and power. "Be Water my friend.""The spirit of defeating a man is the same for ten million men." I don't see how breathing out through the mouth is different than breathing out through the nose.Try this: kiaing or kihaping while breathing out through the nose... https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
TraditionalDan
I was mainly wondering about the exhaling through the nose part, I have always done it through the mouth (and will probably continue to do so).Besides, what if you have a blocked nose? I have enough problems with spittle exiting my mouth when just exhaling, let alone kihaping at times! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
NidaninNJ
I was reading this article yesterday, and was wondering your opinion on it.http://www.theshotokanway.com/kibreathing.htmlI've trained with this guy before. I don't really believe in all the ki mumbo-jumbo. But after seeing what this guy can do and trying it myself, I was really impressed. I have been at a few of his sessions. He just came to NY late last year. I'm looking forward to seeing him again at the Hoitsugan Seminars out on the west coast in March.
