Bossman Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 I run a great Summer Course in the mountains in the Czech Republic each year, been doing it for 18 years this year...Read about the last one here http://www.shikon.com/X%20Shi%20Kon%20Czech%20Republic%20Summer%20Course%202007.htm If you see someone without a smile - give 'em one of yours..
NightOwl Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Don't know about camps per se, but seminars are always popular. Since you do BJJ you could see if you could catch one from one of the Gracies etc. as they travel around. SBGi has a special training course too I believe for MMA, and local gyms like to offer things up around summer time. It all depeds on your local area and how far you are willing to travel. Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
JohnASE Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I was just curious about good summer camps out there for kids or adults- anyone know of any?Since you didn't specify any type of camp, I assume you're open to different styles. If you don't mind traveling, I've heard of a couple that are supposed to be petty good. One is a Kenpo camp in Northern California, and the other is a Shotokan camp in Southern California. The Shotokan camp is put on by the ITKF, Nishiyama Hidetaka Sensei's organization, on July 12-18, 2008. I'm not sure if it's open to non-members. It draws internationally. IIRC, it involves some beach training. Here's their website, but there's not much info there.http://www.itkf.org/Camp Kenpo is hosted by Scott Halsey's Kenpo Karate of Redding, California, but the camp wil be at a nearby wilderness area on September 20 & 21, 2008. Instructors include Huk Planas and Frank Trejo. I didn't see a website for it, but here's some of what the flyer says...Camp Kenpo is a rare opportunity to study Kenpo Karate with the masters of the art! Among the beauty of the Whiskeytown wilderness area, students will appreciate one-on-one training with their instructors, as well a a "Kenpo Family" experience. In-depth classes that offer expert teaching in kata, self-defense techniques, sparring and the history of the art of Kenpo will be enjoyed by participants."I don't know if they'd want their contact info posted. With a little searching, you can find their school phone number, or send me a PM, and I'll send it to you. John - ASE Martial Arts Supplyhttps://www.asemartialarts.com
