Hi Peazz, and welcome to the forum.

I think you will find the boys and girl on this board more than happy to help with your request.

I am sure that your Googling and Wiki skills are up to scratch, and there are bound to be many previous topics on this board that cover most of your needs.

In addition, don’t forget you have 16 years of your own Karate training to call upon for reference. This is often better than repeating what has been said by others, as it is direct from source as it were.

All the best.

By definition, a research paper is "a formal written report that includes research findings and a student's own ideas."

If you are looking for stuff to include in your "literature review" a good starting point might be the "Karateforum.com Articles" section.

Also maybe look at some of the more mainstream publications such as "Fighting arts" and "Combat" magazines.

If you are after "data results" you could also use the forums as a method, by posting questionnaires. You can then use your experience to draw your own conclusions.

I hope that helps and good luck.

There is an excellent book, "Zen and the Martial Arts." It can address some of those topics and it's not that big. Also, there is a topic on this forum called, "Martial Arts Research Library." Many posters have suggested some great books on that link. I would suggest checking there as well.

Here's a link:

Good luck.

That's a sweet topic for a research paper!

You could also write about the mental benefits of karate, though you might have to dig a little harder for information that you can use. You could, like others have said, ask questions of members on this forum. Personal communication is a valid resource and you can include it in your resource list/bibliography, if your teacher allows it.

For the kids especially Karate can be a major self-confidence booster, as well as a great way to meet new friends. I have a Psychology professor that also teaches martial arts to special needs students, mostly with behavioral disorders. He says that the physicality, expenditure of energy, and focus works wonders for these kids.
