How you look at kyush-jutsu I think should depend on how accurate you want to be in your book.

If its an adventure novel then I suspect you don't need to be terribly accurate in your account of vital point striking? In which case just look up kyusho and tuite on the internet. You'll find lots of stuff that is in reality a load of baloney but would probably be just the sort of thing to give a little martial pazazz to a novel.
