yingampyang Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 The tradional rules of ranking , and how long it should be between belt gradings. Because it has largly increased over the years. I think that there is no 1 style , and that to truly become a great martial artist and person you must take information from where ever you can.
bushido_man96 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 At the black belt levels, I have seen the time in rank increase for each dan grade. At colored belt, the time was always the same. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
yingampyang Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 No the time is not the same anymore , depending on what school you go to. I think that there is no 1 style , and that to truly become a great martial artist and person you must take information from where ever you can.
granitemiller Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 It depends on your motivation. You can find a school that churns out belts if you search around. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" Confuciushttp://graniteshotokan.wordpress.com
scottman Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 it depends on how hard you workThat's really what it comes down to. Somebody that trains 8 hours a day, 7 days a week is going to progress much faster than someone who does 1 hour, twice a week. But like everyone else says, you shouldn't worry about it. All a blackbelt says is that you know the basics and are ready to begin learning in a martial arts system. Well put!
Adonis Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Train as hard as you can, as much as you can, and make sure you drink plenty of water
jiujitsufan10 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 There are lots of schools that will let you go as fast as you want as long as you pay. You can also buy certificates to way you are a 5,6,7 degree black belt. But really, if you were to demonstrate what you know, would you want to look foolish wearing a black belt with little skills? I rather have a brown belt and know that I have skills. Belt color doesn't matter if you cannot back it up with knowledge and physical form. It should take you around three years training 5 days a week to get to black belt. Its also good to train in more than one art to have broad skills. Train hard, be the best.
Karateka_latino Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 There's not a particular MA that can quickly give you a black belt. That depends more on the School and organization. In some karate school you can test for a black belt in 2 years while in other is 6 years and that applies for most martial arts. Right now, as a far as i know, BJJ outside Brazil is the martial art that takes the longest to give a black belt which is 10 years or a little more. I've heard that in Brazil you can get your BB in 5 years.
humble monk Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I'm not even sure what black belt means anymore. To the general public, I suppose it means mastery, to me it has come to mean a super-expensive test fee.
nrspook Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 Remember the immortal words of Mr. Miyagi:"Belt means no need rope to hold up pants."Karate's in your head and your heart, not around your waist.
