NightOwl Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Hey- anyone use this move? I've recently come to have a great interest in it, even though I doubt I could pull it off. In case you don't know what the suplex is, here are some videos including the judo variant ura nage: Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
ps1 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I train with a skilled greco roman wrestler that has used it in his MMA fights. Not my cup of tea however. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
bushido_man96 Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 I have always loved watching a great suplex. I really think that this throw/slam is a thing of beauty. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
ericjones80 Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 charlie valencia had a mean suplex on the most recent WEC card...anyone see it? I support Gym Jones I use AWMA
WolverineGuy Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 I remember seeing Dan Severen pull TWO off in his second fight of the night during UFC 4...fight lasted like a minute...he knocked the guy out with the second suplex. Was unreal...almost looked like a pro wrestling match. Wolverine1st Dan - Kalkinodo"Shut up brain, or I'll stab you with a q-tip""There is no spoon."
bushido_man96 Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 I have seen Cung Le do some pretty mean suplexes, too. That guy is a takedown and throwing machine. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Rainbow_Warrior Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I Love suplex...But I find them VERY difficult -for me - to apply them in MMA and in plain grappling....I connected a frontal suplex once ...but with a very light dude.... ´´ The evil may win a round , but not the fight ´´
pittbullJudoka Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 The one from Grapplers Quest showed great exicution of not only the belly to back but also in holding position to take the back and sink the rear naked choke. Great clips by the way.
bushido_man96 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 A good suplex will require some flexibility of the back to get the really good technique. You have to arch your back pretty good. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
