bushido_man96 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 From a frontal posture, I think you could work it into a good sweeping kick. You can really hook that knee with it, after coming up with a crafty entry technique. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
gohardmma. Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 i have learned a hook kick as a sidekick out to your front with a hook, and i find it works well in combination with a round kick. hook kicks can be great if you incorporate them into your fight.
ensorob Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I have more than Master because I learn from a family of Martial Arts. One way I have learned to do a hook kick is a chamber your leg and pivot 90 degrees to full hip rotation you need. They explain do explain it as a roundhouse but going the other direction.
JGBurnum Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 What does a hook kick accomplish IRL that a side kick wouldn't? Do you try to grab something with your heel or what? Just tested for my orange belt...Tang Soo!
JusticeZero Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Comes from a different angle, one which is hopefully not defended at the time when the angle of the side kick is closed. "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly." - Baleia
bushido_man96 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Yes, its a different angle of attack, and gives you another tool to use. Hook kicks can be great for getting around obstructions like arms, and if spinning, the momentum can be nice, too. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
