DWx Posted October 15, 2007 Posted October 15, 2007 My son competes in Naska events has been wearing ringstar shoes to spar but was wondering if the Nike shoe or any other sparring shoe was legal. ThanksCorrect me if I'm wrong but the Rinstar's have the foam padding whilst the Nike's don't. The design of most of the Nike ones I have seen don't really make them suitable for sparring as there is only a "thin" layer of leather which is covered in stitching. Which Nike ones were you looking at specifically? Before buying, it might be an idea to check with the event organisers.Welcome to the forums by the way "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius
chase758 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 You are correct. The Nike has a rubber sole,I was told wrong. Thanks for the reply. Have you heard anything about the SAP gear. M y son seen some in Germany when he was at the WKA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, but we don't know anyone that has any experiance with them. Thanks for the welcome.
DWx Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 http://sportkaratestore.com/sap-m-1.htmlThese?Never heard of them before and can't find any indepth description on what their made out of. If your son saw a fair amount of people using them at the Worlds I'd say they would probably be ok. They don't appear to have a shoe like Ringstar, only the sparring boot thing. If you want to go for this type of gear I am a big fan of Top Ten gear:http://www.bytomic.com/detail.asp?c_urn=11&show=pgno3&urn=377&pg=3But thats only my personal (somewhat limited) experience.
