New user Phoenix BJJ and Muay Thai

Recommended Posts

Hi:

I am new to the forum and have two sons, ages 11 and 9.

The older one studies BJJ and placed 2nd in his first tournament. He studies at Relson Gracie here in Phoenix.

My younger son studies Muay Thai at Arizona Muay Thai in Glendale. He is doing great there, too. It's a newer place. Their site is http://www.arizonamuaythai.com.

The biggest problem that I've had is finding places close to my house in North Phoenix (7th St and Greenway). It's a bummer to have to drive 45 minutes to take them, even though I gladly do. The other problem that I have is that during the week I only have them every Wednesday and every other Thursday during the week.

I can take the younger one to MT every day, so that's not a problem, but it's hard to find a BJJ school that works on those days. I'm not looking to take him out of Relson Gracie, I think it's great, but I would like to supplement his training some.

Any suggestions?

Matt

Welcome to the Forums! It sounds like you have a couple of active ones! If you don't want to change from the Gracie school (and I can't say as I blame you), then perhaps you could have him do MT with your other son as well. If he wants to stay with grappling, though, then perhaps a Judo studio would suit your needs.

Best of luck, and welcome! :karate:

Yeah, I see what you are saying there.

If your older boy is really into the grappling, then you could look into a Kid's Wrestling program as well. The goals there will be different, but I think he would still benefit from it, and he would get the chance to compete as well. In the end, I think knowing Wrestling would compliment his BJJ as well.
