Take downs and Defenc/se.

Recommended Posts

Well..... I noticed that Im not good at takedowns , specially against strong opponents. Sometimes they take me down , and I dominate or win on the ground.I feel that my ground game went good. Or if we are playing under mma rules , I keep them distracted with strikes and can shoot with success . But , when it turns to standing grappling I dont handle it in the way I would like to....

I am a slow shooter , and reach they hips from the clinch is not easy for me with strong/skillfull guys.. I know I can pull guard , but I am looking for an alternative , or way to improve my Takedowns.

It ussually ends with me on the ground , but in the bottom position.... sometimes I can sweep and fix it..... My defence is not BAD , but it should be better if I am not that good taking down.

I practice takedowns sometimes in my schools , with and without resistance.

I recommend the burpee exercise! I can't do it too well, with my knees (although my knees have been better lately...) but it would help you, I think.

Well calisthenic and plyometric are good for that .

Just build up the inside leg muscles

I think is not matter of strength ( I can leg press over 620 lbs and squat 300 lbs) . It may a be problem of explotion , that I dont have.

Burpee ! I remember doing that a lot when I was in the Navy ROTC. :P ... I should start with that again.
